Case study: GRI reporting | Central Textiles

Central Textiles is a textile company with spinning, weaving and dyeing mills in Hong Kong and mainland China. With a deep interest in sustainable projects, such as recycling, energy reduction, organic cotton and community engagement, Central Textiles decided to write their first sustainability report with the support by Systain. As a family owned company known as being pioneering within textiles, the management attempts to run the business with a sustainable approach.

Despite many successful steps taken throughout the organisation, no common way for communicating and coordination of the results of the different programmes was in place. Writing the report based on the GRI G3 lines, the sustainability team at Central Textiles achieved a useful tool in structuring the report and collection of data. Systain has been a supporting partner all through the project and the report will be published after the Chinese New Year in 2009. With the report all internal and external stakeholders are provided a comprehensive overview of economic, social and environmental aspects of the organisation.
